Bloc Party has confirmed the shock release of their new EP, The High Life EP, set to drop on July 21. After a busy 12 months touring with Paramore, the band is gearing up for a summer of UK festivals and a four-track release, symbolic of Bloc Party’s subsequent chapter.
Earlier this month, the beloved and practically 25-year-old band launched the percussive, alt-rock title monitor “High Life,” infused with their signature upbeat funk, and “Keep It Rolling” with Cleveland-born artist KennyHoopla.
“When we had been invited on the Paramore tour, we actually wished to get collectively and seize the place the band was at and share that music,” says frontman Kele Okereke. “To me, it’s the sound of coming out of the wilderness and re-embracing life.”
The band’s last studio album Alpha Games, is hailed as the marriage between post-punk with dance, showcasing the band’s constant work-in-progress attitude and passion for experimenting with new sounds and genres. Okereke explains that their new EP will “offer a little bridge between Alpha Games and what’s next for the band.”
