“Sky and Ty was actually born out of the Pandemic. In 2020, my kids had a lot of extra time for drawing and coloring and my six-year-old son created a picture of an orange cowboy standing on top of an orange dinosaur. I immediately loved it and told him I wanted to make some kind of childrens’ book with these characters. (He gave me permission!) It seemed that a lot of fun stories could be told with two dissimilar buddies navigating the world together. I changed the orange cowboy to a blue cowgirl and, viola! I had Sky and Ty. Later that year, my family and I wanted to get away during the lockdown so we drove to Arizona. I was so inspired by the trees, streams, and rock formations in the northern part of the state that I made an idealized version of Sedona the setting of the book. ”
