As the twenty fourth Poet Laureate of the United States, Ada Limón is working on two main initiatives as a part of her signature challenge titled “You Are Here.” One a part of the challenge shall be an anthology of nature poems titled “You Are Here: Poetry in the Natural World,” which is able to options authentic poems by 50 American poets. Among them shall be former U.S. Poet Laureate Joy Harjo, Pulitzer Prize-winning Diane Seuss, and PEN/Voelcker Award-winning Rigoberto González.
The second initiative — titled ““You Are Here: Poetry in Parks” — shall be a collaboration between Limón, the National Park Service, and the Poetry Society of America. It will function poetry installations in seven nationwide parks throughout the nation. The installations will rework park options like picnic tables into public artwork and poetry shall be tailor-made to every particular website.
