Director George Miller has been deep in post-production on the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel movie Furiosa, and he’s seeking to arrange its large premiere at The Cannes Film Festival. He premiered Fury Road there alongside together with his 2022 film Three Thousand Years of Longing. So, it looks like it will make sense for Furiosa to premiere there as effectively.
According to Variety, “the tentative plan is for Warner Bros. to world premiere Furiosa at Cannes just as it did Fury Road nine years ago. The studio said any suggestion that Furiosa would roll out at Cannes was purely a rumor. Any premiere plan for the movie depends on clearing the actors’ schedules to do the promotion, and those talks can’t happen until the SAG-AFTRA strike is resolved.”
The movie competition’s chief Thierry Fremaux instructed the outlet: “We kept an extraordinary memory of the world premiere of Fury Road at Cannes. It would be wonderful to welcome them again with Furiosa, especially since George Miller was a marvelous jury president in 2016. I know he’s working on the film and I hope it will be at Cannes.”
The film stars Anya Taylor-Joy, who performs Imperator Furiosaand, and Chris Hemsworth, who takes on the position of villainous Warlord Dementus.
In the movie, “As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.”
Hemsworth regarded unrecognizable on set as he sported lengthy hair, nostril prosthetics, and a beard. The remainder of the solid contains Tom Burke, Angus Sampson, Nathan Jones, Daniel Webber, Lachy Hulme, and Quaden Bayles.
Fans are extremely excited for Furiosa, and it’s scheduled to be launched on May 24, 2024.
