Cross River State has reported a Lassa fever outbreak within the Ejah Community of Osupong Ward 1, Obubra Local Government Area, leading to one confirmed loss of life.

The Commissioner of Health, Dr. Egbe Ayuk, launched an announcement on Thursday, informing the general public of the outbreak.

Following an investigation into the deceased, it was decided that Lassa fever was the reason for loss of life.

The state has activated the Emergency Operation Centre, and the Rapid Response Team will conduct contact tracing, line itemizing, and decontamination within the affected space.

Additionally, consciousness campaigns, threat communication, and the mobilization of mandatory assets have been initiated.
