The Price of Stardom in Hollywood Secrets #1, Up for Auction

Hollywood Secrets #1 with cowl and artwork by Bill Ward options tales of romance impressed by the scandal tabloids of the period.

Hollywood Secrets #1 is one of the rarer books of the current romance comics I’ve written about for this public sale at Heritage Auctions. Featuring a Bill Ward cowl, it is a ebook that did not have a large print run in the primary place and now’s even more durable to search out in any form of good condition. This copy, taking bids proper now and at $41, is a CGC 6.0, and in line with the census, solely has one copy that’s graded larger in the meanwhile. And this one was graded in 2006. That is a few rarity proper there.

The featured story in this subject, “Second Chance” by artist Bill Ward, is typical of the title.  A younger actress strikes to Hollywood, leaving her school sweetheart behind.  Climbing in the direction of stardom, she is compelled to this point a studio government to proceed her profession — on the price of her real love.

Full coloration. Cover worth $0.10.

You know, after weeks of writing about these romance auctions, I’m satisfied that there needs to be reprints of these books. Some of the most important names in comics lower their enamel in these, from artists to writers, and far of their early work is simply gone from historical past. Hollywood Secrets and books prefer it should be preserved in a way for when getting your fingers on these turns into much more inconceivable than it’s now.
