The DC film universe will return to their roots with the brand new movie Superman: Legacy, set to hit theaters in 2025.
The film was introduced in January 2023, only one month after Henry Cavill shared that he would not be portraying Superman.
“I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it’s sad news, everyone,” he wrote through Instagram in December 2022. “I will, after all, not be returning as Superman. After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life.”
Cavill made his first look as Superman in 2013’s Man of Steel and made a closing cameo as Clark Kent in 2022’s Black Adam.

Five months later, Gunn shared through Instagram Threads that the script to the movie is “99.9%” completed. “I’m always changing small things but it’s essentially done since well before the strike,” he added.
