BUA Cement has revealed why it failed in its preliminary plan to promote the commodity for a hard and fast value of N3,500 per 50kg bag throughout the nation.
The firm stated that the plan was hindered by market forces.
This clarification got here following the seven-day deadline issued to the corporate by two civil society teams, demanding the sale of cement at N3,500 per bag or they’d picket the corporate.
The firm asserted that it had certainly honored that promise.
“We actually sold our cement for three to four months at N3,500. We thought other players in the cement industry would join us in making the price of cement affordable,” the chief director, Mr Kabir Rabiu advised Leadership.
Kabir famous that BUA was unable to take care of the discounted value of N3,500, because the intermediaries and wholesalers prevented the supposed recipients, the end-users, from accessing the lowered value.
