I Was Paid Just 10k For My First Movie Role

Nollywood actress Rita Dominic has revealed that she was paid N10,000 for her first film function.

She disclosed this in a current interview with Joy 99.7 FM, Ghana.

The thespian mentioned when she began appearing, Nollywood wasn’t profitable however she was pushed by her ardour.

Dominic mentioned,

“I simply needed to be an actor. And to be trustworthy, there was no cash in Nollywood again then. We have been simply doing it for the fervour. We have the fervour for the artwork which was what fuelled us.

“It was very challenging. But we just kept doing it until the industry got bigger and bigger. And obviously the pay became much better.”

Asked the bottom quantity she has ever obtained for a film function, she mentioned,

“The first film I did, the filmmaker paid me N35,000. But he owed me N25,000 for how many months. In fact, he didn’t even pay me the balance. He paid me only N10,000 [laughs].”
