Dark Star Pictures has launched the US trailer for the upcoming World War II conflict thriller Onoda: 10,000 Nights within the Jungle. The movie relies on the true story of Japanese soldier, Hiroo Onoda (Endô Yûya), who was despatched to an island within the Philippines in 1944.
The 22-year-old soldier was educated for intelligence work, and he “discovers a philosophy contrary to the official line: no suicide, stay alive whatever happens, and the mission is more important than anything else. Sent to Lubang, a small island in the Philippines where the Americans are about to land, this role will be to wage a guerilla war until the return of the Japanese troops. The Empire will surrender soon after…”
When Japan does formally give up, Onoda ignores it, “educated to outlive in any respect prices within the jungle, he retains his conflict going. He will take 10,000 days to capitulate, refusing to consider the tip of the Second World War.” He ends up spending nearly 30 years on the island.
