A brand new type of ghost buster is coming to comics in April. Writer Steve Orlando and artist Sebastian Piriz have teamed for Exorcists Never Die, a six-issue collection that follows a pair of “combat exorcists” on a mission into the depths of Hell. Published by Max Cave Studios, the collection is lettered by Carlos M. Mangual, and can sport covers by Piriz and Paul Fry.
Here’s how Mad Cave describes Exorcists Never Die:
Syd Miller and Ellen Blair are the world’s two premiere fight exorcists — the one drawback? After a nuclear break up years in the past, they’ll’t stand one another. But when the largest soul public sale in historical past kicks off beneath Los Angeles, Syd and Ellen haven’t any selection however to come back collectively to raid the HELLSCRAPER, an infernal tower going straight down into the Earth. With 1000’s of souls on the road, Syd and Ellen should battle their approach to the underside, or die making an attempt.
Exorcists Never Die is the primary Mad Cave Studios work for Steve Orlando, the multi-award-nominated author on books like Wonder Woman and Marauders. It’s additionally the primary collaboration between Orlando and Sebastian Piriz, whose work has appeared in comics like We Ride Titans from Vault and Disaster Inc. from AfterShock.
In an announcement saying the brand new collection, Orlando and Piriz described the themes the collection will discover, and what makes it a lot enjoyable:
“We’re giving you action to the sky in this book, but it’s important to me for much more than that. Here’s a vivid exploration of biblical mythology, of what it means to fight a war, or even merely survive, in a world where only one side’s playing by the rules,” mentioned author, Steve Orlando. “It’s about the power of belief—not in the unknowable, but the knowable, the one fighting beside you. And in that unjust environment, we have two masters of their craft on the streets and catastrophes in the sheets, ex-lovers who’ve got no choice but to overcome the forces that drove them apart if they want to survive the most dangerous exorcism to ever hit the earthly plane.”
“First of all, Steve Orlando is writing; He’s one of the most talented and important writers in comics, so yeah, no big deal,” mentioned artist, Sebastián Píriz. “But then I read the scripts and its a crazy story that mixes terror with, somehow, Shonen and it just works so well! Every page is a cool surprise and I’m having a blast working on it. So, even if you haven’t read anything by Steve before, this story is a must read. I mean, Ninja priests exorcising demons with super sentai moves… This is the kind of book that made me love comics so much.”
