James Cameron‘s pissing off animal welfare activists by selling his ocean-themed epic, “Avatar: The Way of Water,” with a dolphin present many see as, at least ironic, and undoubtedly merciless.
The director sat alongside stars Zoe Saldaña, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver and others in Japan to advertise the much-anticipated sequel — he kicked off the press convention by saying, “Welcome to Pandora” … after which the controversial present started.
The dolphins in a tank carried out methods with the assistance of trainers … and because the convention continued, Cameron talked about how a lot he liked a dolphin’s intelligence and sociability … earlier than joking, “I’m sure everybody asked their permission to be in the show.”
That joke didn’t land with animal activist teams like PETA — as a result of its spokesperson informed Plant Based News, “Why on Earth didn’t [Cameron] pause for just five minutes to consider whether he should have allowed himself to be seen as endorsing the cruelty of marine parks?”
Shockingly, Cameron’s been an animal advocate for years … he says he is been a vegan for a decade, and even labored on the 2009 flick, “The Cove,” the Oscar-winning animal rights movie that uncovered the cruelty of dolphin searching in Japan, of all locations.
Waiting on your permission to load the Instagram Media.
Even “The Cove” director, Richard O’Barry, is asking out Cameron for his hypocrisy in utilizing captive dolphins to advertise a movie whose central plot is about conserving ocean assets.
Just a little extra CGI may’ve gone a great distance in serving to James dodge this bullet.
