Thirsty (*30*) is a cross between Scott Pilgrim’s battles with evil exes, fashionable arcade skateboarding, and cooking segments all portrayed via a South Asian cultural lens. Outerloop Games’ RPG stars Jala as she returns to an outdated city with outdated flames, and frames their reconciliation via turn-based battles the place the straightforward act of speaking to one another is pumped as much as ridiculous ranges. There’s even a stage wherein Jala enters a dream world the place her exes seem as highly effective, distorted variations of their very own self-concept. Think Persona 5 however with fewer criminals. Jala explores her outdated city on a skateboard (extra Jet Set Radio than Tony Hawk), and when she’s residence together with her household, she cooks together with her mom in over-the-top, campy style. Thirsty (*30*) portrays all of its storylines on this means, however there’s a grounded humanity at its core that will likely be thrilling to see when the sport launches on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch.
