Aussie Oscar winner Nicole Kidman has landed the plum function of Virginia medical expert Kay Scarpetta in a TV sequence adaptation of the favored Patricia Cornwell novels.
Furthermore, our sister website Deadline is reporting, Oscar nominee Jamie Lee Curtis will play Kay’s flighty sister Dorothy (aka the mother of the forensic whiz’s niece Lucy).
The Amazon Studios and Blumhouse co-production reportedly is on the cusp of a two-season, straight-to-series order at Prime Video, although the streamer is just not commenting on Deadline’s report.
Both Kidman and Curtis (whose Comet Pictures again in 2021 secured rights to the Kay Scarpetta novels) will even be EPs on the sequence, whereas Liz Sarnoff (Barry) reportedly will serve as author/showrunner.
Cornwell’s tagliatella bolognese-loving Scarpetta character was first launched in 1990’s Postmortem, and has appeared in greater than 20 novels since then — most lately, Livid: A Scarpetta Novel (which hit cabinets in October 2022).
As lately as 2009, Angelina Jolie was circling a big-screen franchise revolving across the Scarpetta character, whereas Demi Moore was briefly connected to the function again in the early Nineties.
What do you suppose of Kidman’s reported casting as Scarpetta? And who’s your choose to play plucky Lucy?
