Comedian Adam Devine not too long ago shared his ideas on why Hollywood isn’t making extra comedy movies lately, and he places the blame on Marvel and superhero motion pictures. He believes that these sorts of movies have killed audiences’ curiosity in comedy motion pictures.
Devine not too long ago appeared on Theo Von’s This Past Weekend podcast, and when requested about why we don’t see Hollywood greenlighting as many comedies as they used to, the actor mentioned:
“My theory: I think Marvel ruined it. I feel like superhero movies ruined comedies because you go to the theater and you expect to watch something that cost $200 million to make, and comedy movies aren’t that. So you’re like, ‘Why would I spend the same amount of money to go watch a little comedy in the theater if I can spend that and watch something that is worth $200 million?’”
The actor/comic went on to say that he believes Marvel motion pictures have just about turn into the brand new normal for comedy with how all of the movies incorporate a good quantity of humor. He mentioned:
“They still make those movies kind of funny, like, ‘Oh my god, is that raccoon talking? This is hilarious!’ Which it is, but it’s not a real comedy… Every studio used to put out several comedies a year, and there were like 45 comedies in the theater per year. So every week or so, there’s a new comedy in the theaters. Now, last year, there was like 6 or 7. It’s crazy.”
You know, it’s fairly loopy that we don’t see extra comedies getting made for the large display lately! I haven’t actually considered that, however he’s proper! There have been so many extra comedies being launched in theaters! Some of the factors he makes could also be legitimate, however I don’t assume all of the blame is on Marvel.
I’d say streaming providers are the largest purpose why we aren’t seeing comedies on the large display. Most of the comedy movies being made are going straight to streaming lately. Regardless of what’s inflicting it, it’s unhappy that we aren’t seeing extra comedies launched in theaters anymore, and I don’t assume it is going to ever return to the best way it was once.
What do you all assume?
