French police fired tear fuel on the Champs-Élysées in Paris as fans had been celebrating victories by France and Morocco in the World Cup, sending them to the match’s semi-finals.
Thousands of supporters stuffed the well-known Parisian avenue quickly after the match between Morocco and Portugal, chanting, waving flags and honking their horns amid massive police deployment.
More joined them following France’s win towards England. Footage confirmed folks smashing store fronts and fights with police. Some fires may be seen on Avenue de Friedland near the Champs-Élysées.
