The crime drama sequence City on Fire won’t return for a second season on Apple TV+.
As damaged by Deadline, Apple TV+ has opted to tug the plug on City on Fire after a single, eight-episode season. News of the present’s cancellation comes a few month and a half after Season 1 wrapped up in mid June. Deadline stories that City on Fire wasn’t fairly the hit Apple TV+ had hoped for, particularly when in comparison with a number of the streamer’s different latest choices.
City on Fire relies on the 2015 novel of the identical title by Garth Risk Hallberg. To that finish, the present’s first and solely season covers the complete arc of the e book. So, it didn’t depart viewers on a cliffhanger in that respect. However, Apple TV+ ordered the difference as a drama sequence, not a restricted sequence. Furthermore, the present did plant seeds for a possible second season in its finale. Notably, the live-action sequence persevering with the story past what’s within the e book wouldn’t have been unprecedented. (A latest instance of a tv adaptation doing simply that’s Prime Video’s Good Omens.)
