Contentious contract negotiations between publishing big Condé Nast and the union representing staffers at lots of its magazines spilled over Wednesday when staffers marched to the New York City workplaces of the corporate’s CEO.
The motion by members of Condé Union comes after it criticized Tuesday’s negotiations over the primary contract because the NewsGuild union acquired certification in 2022. According to the union, throughout the talks, administration threatened so as to add 5 further layoffs to a proposed record and presumably extra.
After the corporate introduced layoffs affecting 5% of staffers final November, talks with the union yielded the next share of union members who could possibly be affected. According to the union, the corporate proposed to put off 94 union members, about 20% of the union’s membership.

Organizers have claimed administration was not bargaining in good religion. They cited feedback from CEO Roger Lynch in a current interview that no extra cuts had been deliberate, and that Conde Nast‘s mother or father firm Advance “stands to benefit from Reddit’s upcoming public offering to the tune of nearly $2 billion.”
The union introduced it might protest Tuesday’s assembly by marching to the corporate’s govt workplaces at One World Trade Center in Manhattan.
