David Moyes has backed West Ham United’s summer season signings to make difference for the Hammers this season, however insisted that they want ‘time’ to take action.
West Ham had been extremely energetic throughout the summer season window, forking out £163m on the likes of Lucas Paqueta, Gianluca Scamacca and Nayef Aguerd – the latter of which shall be out long run because of an damage.
Speaking to the press forward of the Hammers’ Premier League conflict with Everton on Sunday, Moyes mentioned the squad depth he now has at his disposal.
He acknowledged: “That’s exactly what we’ve been after. We’ve not had that for probably the last couple of years, or certainly not as much.
“But what we always have had here at West Ham is a great team spirit, a great group of lads who are committed. We have got much stronger competition. Still, bringing in eight or nine players and trying to bed them in quite quickly is not an easy thing to do.
“I think the players we’ve brought in will make a difference and it just needs a little bit of time.
“But we need to try and get the points on the board in the Premier League. We’ve shown better signs with our performances against Tottenham and Chelsea recently. We’ve got competition, we need it; if we’re going to try and challenge the boys at the top again, we’re going to have to get these players playing at their best.
“If you don’t play well then you will find yourself not in the team.”
