DIIV are again with Frog in Boiling Water, the band’s fourth album and first in 4 years. They made it with producer Chris Coady, and it will likely be out May 24 through Fantasy.
“If you drop a frog in a pot of boiling water, it will of course frantically try to clamber out,” the band say of the album’s title. “But if you place it gently in a pot of tepid water and turn the heat on low, the frog will sink into a tranquil stupor, exactly like one of us in a hot bath, and before long, with a smile on its face, it will unresistingly allow itself to be boiled to death.”

Frog in Boiling Water consists of final yr’s “Soul Net,” and the new single from the album is “Brown Paper Bag” hits that spot between ’90s shoegaze and heavy alt-rock, someplace between My Bloody Valentine and Smashing Pumpkins. Watch the visualizer beneath.
