Drew Barrymore had a surprisingly candy response Thursday to her Music and Lyrics co-star Hugh Grant’s criticism of her singing voice. She merely carried out a part of the film’s huge music, the catchy “Way Back Into Love,” missed notes and all, utilizing a hairbrush as her microphone.
“Oh, Hugh… bert. Hubert,” she stated, earlier than singing once more, “That’s for youuuuuu.”
Earlier in the week, Grant had known as the actress and discuss present host’s voice “just horrendous.”
It occurred throughout an interview with Wired, when the star of the upcoming Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves was requested whether or not he had achieved his personal singing in the 2007 rom-com, in which Grant performs a washed up pop star who groups with Barrymore to write a catchy pop music for a star harking back to Britney Spears (performed by Haley Bennett). The music they give you is the catchy “Way Back Into Love,” which was really penned by the late Adam Schlesinger. A model of the tune on the official soundtrack is, in truth, credited to Grant and Barrymore.
“Yes, well I do, but I’m auto-tuned beyond belief,” stated Grant who was sitting alongside his co-stars Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez. “Actually, that’s not true, I’m auto-tuned a bit, but not as much as some. Drew Barrymore was in that film with me and I don’t think she’d mind me saying her singing is just horrendous.”
With a chuckle, he added, “I’ve heard dogs bark better than she sings.”
Ouch.
“But having said that, once they tuned her up she sounded way better than me,” Grant stated, “because she’s got heart and voice and rock ‘n’ roll whereas I sounded like Julie Andrews and I’m meant to be rock ‘n’ roll.”
The two confirmed final 12 months, when he appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show, that they’ve remained associates since their film hit theaters. And it seems that their first interplay was when she reached out to him throughout, as he put it, “the dark days of my Divine Brown scandal.”
“You’ll always have a place in my heart,” Grant instructed her.
The host talked about then that Grant is “kind of a curmudgeon,” which is strictly what he appeared to be Sunday on the Oscars pink carpet, when he had a painfully awkward interview with mannequin Ashley Graham, due to his refusal to reply her questions with various phrases. Graham’s personal response, which she gave to TMZ cameras, was, “You know what, my mama told me to kill people with kindness. So there ya go.”
