It’s been 30 years since the final Beverly Hills Cop film. That final sequel, Beverly Hills Cop III (directed by John Landis!) bombed spectacularly! For many years, nobody needed them to screw up this beloved franchise any additional.
And now… effectively, I assume they do!
Enter: Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, that includes the return of considered one of Eddie Murphy’s most iconic movie characters: Wisecracking Detroit cop Axel Foley. Yet once more, Axel finds an excuse to return to the “mean” streets of Beverly Hills to unravel one other case. The first trailer doesn’t actually get into the why of all of it, however the official plot synopsis beneath sort of explains it.

Does it appear to be a real Beverly Hills Cop film? Yeah, sort of? It does have Eddie Murphy, and Paul Reiser, and even Judge Reinhold and John Ashton as Rosewood and Taggart. Murphy doesn’t actually do any of the stuff that made Axel distinctive in the earlier motion pictures; largely assuming false identities to speak his means into and out of locations. But perhaps they’re saving that for the movie and never giving it away in the trailer…

Detective Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) is again on the beat in Beverly Hills. After his daughter’s life is threatened, she (Taylour Paige) and Foley crew up with a brand new associate (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and previous buddies Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton) to show up the warmth and uncover a conspiracy.
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F premieres on Netflix on in the summer season of 2024.
