On Friday, January 19, Godwin Emefiele, the previous Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, appeared on the Federal High Court in Maitama, Abuja, the place he was arraigned on 20 counts associated to alleged corrupt practices and forgery.
Dressed in an ash-colored pair of trousers and a darkish jacket, Emefiele arrived on the courtroom accompanied by his authorized workforce and some aides.
Initially going through six counts of N1.2bn procurement allegations, the fees in opposition to him have been subsequently amended by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Upon the studying of the amended 20 counts, Emefiele pleaded not responsible. The trial choose, Hamza Muazu, adjourned the case to start trial on February 12 and 13, 2024.
