Examples of director "cameos"? I.e., a director shooting a scene in another director’s film.

In this kind of "cameo," I don't imply a director appearing in a bit function in a film (though these are enjoyable to identify). Instead, and sometimes much less well-known, is when a director shoots a number of scenes in another director's film. One not often hears about this kind of cameo, and except you're a behind-the-scenes junkie, they're typically not publicized. I get a kick out it, imagining these well-known administrators palling round with one another on their film units.

I've listed some examples beneath (with citations), however I'd love to listen to of any others.

I don't embody instances in which a new director replaces the unique director who was fired, or who leaves for skilled or private causes (e.g., Superman 2, Justice League, Rogue One).

Here are some examples:

• Sam Raimi in the *The Hudsucker Proxy"* – Raimi was not only the 2nd unit director for this Coen Brothers movie, but also directed the famous "hula hoop" montage and the opening suicide scene.
• Monte Hellman in "Robocop" – Hellman, probably best known as the director of Two Lane Blacktop and a producer of Reservoir Dogs, was an uncredited 2nd unit director on Robocop, directed by Paul Verhoven. But according to an interview, this understates how much he claims to have shot, including significant portions of one of the most memorable scenes in the movie, the malfunctioning ED-209 in the boardroom.
• Robert Rodriguez in "Pulp Fiction" – Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino are famously close friends, which has extended to shooting scenes in each other's movies. In Pulp Fiction, Tarantino wanted to focus on his acting as Jimmie, so he asked Rodriguez to direct whenever Tarantino was in front of the camera.
• Quentin Tarantino in "Sin City" – And here's Quentin returning the favor. Tarantino is a famous advocate of shooting on celluloid, but wanted to try digital cameras. Rodriguez gave him the opportunity in the "Designated Driver" scene in Sin City.
• Steven Soderbergh in "The Hunger Games" – Directors Gary Ross and Steven Soderbergh are long-time friends and when the former needed a 2nd unit director for a couple of days, he asked his friend Soderbergh because "I’d moderately have you ever do it than rent any person who I don’t know." While it's not clear exactly which scenes were directed by Soderbergh, it's believed that one of them is the District 11 riot.
• Eli Roth in "Inglourious Basterds" – In addition to playing the Bear Jew, Roth directed the film-within-the-film, "Nation's Pride."
• Robert Rodriguez in "Scream 2" – Rodriquez directed a few scenes in this Wes Craven sequel, including the "Stab" movie.
• James Cameron in "Apollo 13 – While not really directing, Cameron storyboarded the Saturn V launch sequence in Ron Howard's film.
