The PGA Awards have introduced their nominees for Outstanding Producer of Documentary Motion Pictures, and three of seven titles are helmed by girls.
Sara Dosa’s “Fire of Love,” a visually dazzling tribute to volcanologists Katia and Maurice Krafft landed a nod, as did Kathryn Ferguson’s “Nothing Compares,” a portrait of controversial Irish singer Sinéad O’Connor, and Margaret Brown’s “Descendant,” which spotlights the seek for The Clotilda, the final identified ship to reach within the United States illegally carrying enslaved Africans.
Surprisingly, “All the Beauty and the Bloodshed,” Laura Poitras’ ode to artist Nan Goldin, didn’t snag a nomination. The doc took house Venice Film Fest’s high prize, the Golden Lion, and has been racking up noms and awards since its world premiere on the Lido.
Head over to Deadline to take a look at all of the doc nominees. More classes shall be introduced January 12. The PGA Awards ceremony is slated to happen February 25.
