Alternative artist grandson goes industrial.
Today, the rising Canadian-American expertise dropped “Drones,” the primary single off his just-announced sophomore album I Love You, I’m Trying, which is to be launched May 5 on Fueled By Ramen. In a press launch, the artist referred to as “Drones” a “twisting, spiraling journey through the lies we tell ourselves to get through the day when the hard truth may bury us.” He added, “I wanted to pay homage to bands like Tool and System of a Down known for unpredictable time signatures but bring 808s and hip-hop into it.”
“Drones” follows up last year’s release and the album’s lead single, “Eulogy.” Of the album, which marks grandson’s latest full-length release since 2020’s Death Of An Optimist, he said in a statement, “This is the album that 16-year-old me wanted. This is the album I used to be scared to put in writing and the album followers of mine deserve to listen to. Above all that is the album the place I face a giant query: Can I deal with the modifications life throws at me, and if this all that there’s to life, can it’s sufficient to be completely satisfied?”
