Back in 2018, pop-punk favorites Say Anything introduced they have been happening hiatus and known as their 2019 album Oliver Appropriate a send-off to the band.
Well, now they’re formally saying, “Psyche!” to that plan. After saying a string of stay performances earlier this 12 months, together with competition appearances at Bamboozle and When We Were Young, the band has dropped their first launch since they went on hiatus.

Today, Say Anything has shared “Psyche!,” a riveting, uplifting emo anthem. It’s a becoming return, as frontman Max Bremis opens the music by howling, “We are born again. We’ve died and sprung to life, so wet and fresh.” But beyond that, it also reflects on how far the band’s come and their origins, making references to fellow alt-rock scene artists like blink-182, Chris Carrabba, and Saves the Day.
Bremis shared a statement via a press release about the band’s return and the single. He said, “The music we’re engaged on now’s so meta it is not. It’s a satire of every thing our band was, and the concept of each emo band coming again after 5 years, going again to fundamentals and greedy for the fanbase they discarded so callously by diving headfirst into their followers’ desires and desires, as a substitute of gorging on main label money after which nonetheless making an attempt to be the subsequent Animal Collective or Strokes regardless of what their band truly seems like, to be thwarted each time by indie gatekeepers.” He added that “Psyche!” is “most likely the apex of this idea, stuffed with easter eggs, honest makes an attempt at stadium rock and an extremely disturbing outro hinting on the real-life scenario this new music revolves round.”
