The new Australian drama sequence Boy Swallows Universe has taken it is lead actors on an emotional journey.
The seven-episode restricted sequence, primarily based on a e-book of the identical identify, tells the story of two younger boys as they navigate life with a mum battling drug dependancy, their drug-dealing step-dad and alcoholic father, whereas evading Queensland underworld figures.
Simon Baker, who performs the alcoholic father of Eli and Gus, tells 9honey Celebrity he drew on his own life as a dad-of-three throughout among the extra intense scenes.

“I’m a pretty personal sort of actor,” Baker says.
“When I have kids, it’s not very hard to sort of tap into that stuff. It’s just very hard maintaining it and making sure that it’s not Simon that’s tapping into that, it’s actually a Robert character.”

The Devil Wears Prada star admits the storyline did make him hug his youngsters – who he shares with ex-wife actress Rebecca Rigg – a bit tighter.
“My kids are a bit older but yeah, I still hold them very tight,” Baker tells 9honey Celebrity.
Those scenes have been performed reverse newcomer Felix Cameron, who steals the present as lead star Eli Bell, and Lee Tiger Halley who performs Eli’s mute brother, Gus Bell.
Veteran actor Bryan Brown tells 9honey Celebrity that he was in awe of the younger actors.
Brown performs Slim, a convicted killer-turned-babysitter to the boys, which means all of his scenes have been with the children.
“I just had an enormous amount of fun working with him [Cameron] – he’s a lifeforce, he’s cheeky and he brings that to the part,” Brown says.
“He was he was lovely to me, considering he kept calling me Brynosaurus all the time and commenting on my age every chance he got but I did enjoy being with him.
“And I used to be fascinated by simply the flexibility he needed to ship in this present. It’s an enormous job that he had and let’s get all the way down to practicalities – [it’s] loads of strains, simply merely that to start out with, and then these strains should be actual. And then there must be all of the emotion that’s beneath [and bring that] to the floor, all these issues that he needed to do.
“I think he did a fabulous job and he was a wonderful young fella to work with.”

While Travis Fimmel – the previous Calvin Klein mannequin turned Vikings star – joked that the younger forged who play his step-kids ”stole every scene from me”.
“He’s [Felix] a tremendous young kid, his talent just blew me away and same as Lee, who plays his brother.”
“It was on their shoulders, the series, and they took it way beyond what any of us could think they could have,” Fimmel mentioned.

The actor married Australian actress Rachel Ward in 1983 and they’ve three youngsters collectively.
Boy Swallows Universe premieres on Netflix at 7pm AEDT.
