Interview with Megan O’Russell, Author of The Cursebound Thief

What’s the story behind the story? What impressed you to put in writing The Cursebound Thief?

I used to be drawn into the heist style by Heist Society by Ally Carter, and my love was cemented by Leigh Bardugo’s Six of Crows duology. The unlikely friendships, the magic, the deception, the time jumps… so properly executed and so entertaining. I needed to convey that sense of wonderment into extra modern settings―Vegas to Florida to New England―with instantly relatable characters.

If you needed to choose theme songs for the principle characters of The Cursebound Thief, what would they be?

Jerek – Carry On by enjoyable. Ari – If You Seek Amy by Brittany Spears. Lincoln – “…who has time to listen to music?” Jack – I Am What I Am from La Cage Aux Folles. Grace – Set Fire to the Rain by Adele. Eve – Titanium by David Guetta feat. Sia.

What’s your favourite style to learn? Is it the identical as your favourite style to put in writing?

I’m a genre-agnostic reader, VERY very similar to my writing. Though I do have a mushy spot for YA, particularly fantasy.

What books are in your TBR pile proper now?

I’m at the moment studying Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Storm and Fury. After that, I’m… yeah. It’s too lengthy to checklist. But I did lately end Rule of Wolves (I’m a BIG Bardugo fan).
