Interview with Paula Scott, Author of River of Mercy

What’s the story behind the story? What impressed you to write down River of Mercy?

Years in the past, as a younger newspaper reporter, I did a narrative on boating security within the Sacramento River. I rode alongside with the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department for per week of their river patrol boat, listening to all types of tales. “There are bodies in the river that will never be found,” the sheriff instructed me. “Submerged cars conceal crimes that may never be solved.” This caught with me as a result of how can there be justice if somebody will get away with homicide? And what’s mercy? Who deserves it? Small cities are large on justice and sometimes quick on mercy. Small-town children have a tough time escaping what they’re born into, in case your dad and mom trigger bother, that follows you.

If you needed to decide theme songs for the primary characters of River of Mercy, what would they be?

Maggie May from Rod Steward’s album Every Picture Tells a Story performs a vital position on this novel. One of the primary characters, Maggie, is called after this tune so her organic father can be reminded that she is his.

What’s your favourite style to learn? Is it the identical as your favourite style to write down?

I binge write. If I’m on a roll, I’ll write for 12 hours with few breaks. Then I can’t hardly transfer my arms and my palms go numb. Not factor! Haha!

Do you’ve gotten a motto, quote, or philosophy you reside by?

It doesn’t matter if I’m within the temper, I make myself sit down and write the story till it’s completed. Starting is enjoyable, however ending is tough. ‘Finish what you started’ is a motto I stay by.
