Many followers thought Shazam! Fury of the Gods was teeing up James Gunn’s future DC Universe plans with its post-credits scene. However, it appears what occurred was out of the director’s arms.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods featured a perplexing post-credits scene displaying John Economos (Steve Agee) and Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) recruiting the titular hero for the JSA. Given James Gunn had just lately taken the function of co-chair of DC Studios and each actors have been initially solid in The Suicide Squad, it appeared pure this was an extension of his plans for the DC Universe. However, in accordance with Gunn, it wasn’t his name.
“It wasn’t my call and I didn’t write it,” James Gunn wrote on Threads. “Although it came out when I had just started at DC, its inclusion far predates me as (as does Harcourt as the warden of an underwater prison!), and, although I thought it was fun, I have no idea why those characters would be recruiting for the JS.”
This strains up with prior accounts from Shazam! Fury of the Gods director David F. Sandberg saying Economos and Emilia Harcourt have been by no means meant to seem in the movie. Rather, his authentic plans fell aside, and so they have been solely included attributable to a favor from DC Studios’ different co-chair Peter Safran. It’ll be fascinating to see if James Gunn takes the tease wherever, or if the post-credits scene is left in the garbage bin of the DC Universe.
