Jared Leto is not afraid to take dangers in the case of the Met Gala. On Monday, the 51-year-old actor and musician walked the Metropolitan Museum of Art steps in New York City dressed as none aside from the late Karl Lagerfeld’s cat, Choupette. According to USA Today, Leto declared to photographers on the carpet in French, “C’est moi, Choupette!”
Leto appeared to have the most enjoyable as he struck foolish poses on the purple carpet and linked up with Lizzo and his “WeCrashed” costar Anne Hathaway. He saved up the antics even after altering out of the full bodysuit and carried round the cat costume head to afterparties. Later, on May 5, Leto shared some extra images of his feline self with different stars on Instagram, writing, “Cat selfies from my camera 📸🐾.”
While the 2023 Met Gala paid tribute to the late Lagerfeld (the Chanel clothier died at age 85 in February 2019), Choupette was not in attendance for the star-studded occasion. “A million thanks to all of you my fans, animal lovers & Daddy’s admirers. You have all shown the kindest enthusiasm and unconditional support, I say MERCI ! Many people invited me to walk the red carpet of the #METGALA2023 in tribute to Daddy, but we preferred to stay peacefully & cozy at home,” Choupette’s account introduced on Instagram earlier in the day. “We pay tribute to my Daddy every day since his parting and we are very moved to see one more day dedicated to him.”
In 2022, Leto confirmed as much as the Met Gala twinning in Gucci with Alessandro Michele, and in 2019, he accessorized his purple silk robe with a duplicate of his personal head. Yep, Leto is all the time filled with surprises in the case of the style occasion.
