When we left off in the Season 2 finale of the hit Star Wars sequence The Mandalorian, we noticed the triumphant arrival of Luke Skywalker, who had come to retrieve Grogu and practice him in the methods of the power. We then noticed the pair once more in The Book of Boba Fett, the place Mando discovered them and Luke gave Grogu the alternative between staying with Skywalker to additional his information and coaching, or returning to his good friend. Grogu selected Mando, and that’s the place we are going to choose up in their journey when Season 3 begins.
While it didn’t look like loads of time had handed between Grogu leaving Mando and their reunion, the present’s creator, Jon Favreau, has clued us in to the time leap that was really between these scenes.
While talking at a spherical desk dialogue for the new season of the sequence (through CB), Favreau talked about Grogu, revealing:
“He is somebody who has spent time in both worlds. We know that he started off earlier in Jedi temple. We’ve seen flashbacks that speak to that and then we know that he’s been rescued and spent many years with The Mandalorian. Went back with Luke [Skywalker]. Now we’ve been two years apart from him there training. What’s interesting is that as he chooses his friend The Mandalorian because he’s developed an attachment it’s interesting how that echoes in a way Luke’s path when he was drawn to the attachment of his friends and how that helped shaped the future.”
While it was actually cool to see Grogu get picked up by Luke, it was terribly unhappy to see him say goodbye to the caretaker he had grown so connected to. Their bond is unbreakable, and it appeared inevitable that they’d be reunited. It’s superior to listen to that he received in two years of coaching although! I wager that can come in helpful in their new adventures.
The Mandalorian Season 3 will start streaming completely on Disney+ on March 1st.
