Kelly Clarkson made it via 2023 with many excessive highs — and lots of extra low lows.
Of course, she spent a lot of the yr preventing via the aftermath of her contentious divorce from now-ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. And seeing all that unravel within the public eye has the American Idol alum able to get actual and discuss all about it in her new cowl story interview with People that’s set to hit newsstands on Friday.

In their chat, the Texan opened up about how writing her newest album Chemistry proved to be a reasonably cathartic expertise as she navigated her break up from Blackstock, who was additionally her former supervisor. Speaking about scripting this newest album — her tenth studio effort in all — she stated:
“I didn’t see it other than: This is my outlet. I’m a let-go person; I don’t hold grudges. So it was really delving into what happened in my life and why — and what am I going to do about it?”
Going on, she revealed that the album allowed her to work via some fairly important emotions of grief and despair that, for some time, left her overwhelmed. Kelly defined:
“I cannot express how appreciative I feel for having that kind of healthy outlet. Because the level of depression and things that come with divorce or grieving is extraordinarily hard. You feel alone, and it’s just a blessing to be able to have that outlet for those emotions that are overwhelming.”
And now that the album has been launched (it went out for buy and streaming again in late June), sending it out into the world allowed her to let go of all of the pent-up despair she’d been feeling:
“It [was] like, ‘I’m taking my power back.’ That sounds very therapy, but that’s because I love therapy, and I think it’s important to have those tools to navigate your life and relationships.”
More lately, her two kids — daughter River Rose, 9, and son Remington Alexander, 7 — joined her on stage at her Vegas residency. That was again in August, however Kelly remains to be eager about tit:
“They were a little nervous, but it was their idea, not mine. … It caught me completely off guard, and it was the most magical moment because they were so happy and at ease. They were just in awe.”

Ultimately, the Wayfair ambassador is grateful for the truth that life has turned the web page and there’s a vivid and unknown future forward for her:
“Sometimes you don’t know what life has in store for you, and you think your life is going to go one way, and it’s OK that it doesn’t. You never know how beautiful that might be.”
