There was quite a lot of pleasure when it was introduced that Kevin Feige was going to be growing a Star Wars film for Lucasfilm. It didn’t get far, although, because it turned one in every of the many Star Wars initiatives that fell aside. Earlier this 12 months it was reported that his Star Wars transfer had been scrapped, and now, Feige himself has confirmed that.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, whereas at the premiere of The Marvels, Feige was requested, “What’s up with the Star Wars movie? Is it happening?” His reply was a easy, “No,” and he shook his head.
So, it looks as if Feige determined it was finest to maintain his focus on Marvel Studios, which undoubtedly wants some consideration. This replace comes at a time when a rumor has lately resurfaced about Feige taking up Lucasfilm, which clearly isn’t the case.
While Feige is a large Star Wars fan, I don’t assume he’ll ever go away Marvel Studios. However, I might’ve appreciated to see what he would’ve executed with a Star Wars film. He beforehand defined that his love of Star Wars was his gateway to Marvel, saying:
“I knew I wanted to work on these types of movies [Marvel movies], mainly because of this movie, [Star Wars]. … I was the kid that kept playing with Star Wars toys maybe a little bit longer than the other kids did? So, I was 10 years old when Jedi came out. I had all of those [toys]. The ‘Power of the Force’ line came out in ’85, so there hadn’t had been a Star Wars movie in a couple of years, and as you know, that’s when Kenner stopped making the ‘Power of the Force’ line. It was the last line they did.”
Feige introduced in screenwriter Michael Waldron (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) to work on the challenge at one level, and he mentioned: “I’m enjoying having the freedom on that to do something that’s not necessarily a sequel or anything.” But, clearly, nothing goes to occur with that.
