Two months later at London’s Pride parade, Connor and his Heartstopper castmates wore rainbow attire as they danced in entrance of anti-LGBTQ protesters.
Connor had beforehand spoken in regards to the stress he and costar Joe Locke had been underneath to publicly talk about their sexuality. Instead, Connor mentioned he most popular to not use any labels.
“We’re still all so young. To start sort of speculating about our sexualities and maybe pressuring us to come out when maybe we’re not ready,” Connor instructed the Reign With Josh Smith podcast in May. “For me, I simply really feel completely assured and cozy with my sexuality. But I don’t really feel the necessity to actually, you realize — I’m not too massive on labels and issues like that. I’m not large about that. I don’t really feel like I must label myself, particularly not publicly.”
“It feels a bit strange to make assumptions about a person’s sexuality just based on hearing their voice or seeing their appearance,” Connor added on the time. “I feel like that’s a very interesting, slightly problematic sort of assumption to make.”
In Heartstopper, Connor performs Nick reverse Locke’s character of Charlie as the 2 highschool boys start a friendship that turns romantic.
Fans of Connor’s raced to his protection on Monday, welcoming him to the LGBTQ neighborhood whereas admonishing those that had pressured him.
