BOOM! Studios has simply launched a preview of Kyle Starks and Fran Galán’s upcoming detective thriller Pine and Merrimac #1, hitting comedian e book shops January 3, 2024.
Here’s the writer’s plot synopsis for the sequence:
In Jamesport, on the nook of Pine and Merrimac sits a small, unassuming detective company.
Former murder detective, Linnea Kent–alongside along with her husband, an ex-professional MMA fighter and the unofficial brawn to her brains–places her former life behind her and strikes far-off from the violence and demise of her job within the massive metropolis to open up a quiet little detective company in a quiet little city.
At first, the easy instances this nook of the world has to supply had been precisely what she was on the lookout for. But there’s extra to the quaint hamlet than Linnea might have presumably imagined, and one thing really sinister pulling the strings…
Kyle Starks is a multi-award nominated comics author recognized for Sexcastle, Rock Candy Mountain, Old Head, and I Hate This Place (all revealed by Image). Pine and Merrimac – which is drawn and colored by Galán, with letters by Pat Brosseau – can be Starks’ first authentic sequence at BOOM!
When the sequence was first introduced, Starks stated:
“Pine and Merrimac is about a happily married detective couple who find themselves in a case that gets worse and worse and then worse than you could imagine. I think fans of my Eisner and GLAAD nominated book I Hate This Place will fall in love with these characters the same way they did the character in that book. And getting to work with Fran Galán on it has been amazing. I firmly believe he’s about to be a huge name in this industry with his unbelievable work – if you aren’t familiar with him, his incredible art is worth the price of admission alone.”
Galán, the e book’s artist and co-creator added:
“This comic has all the elements I like in a good story. It’s also written by Kyle Starks, so what more could I ask for?”
The debut problem will include variant covers by sequence artist Galán and visitor artists Erica Henderson, Jae Lee, and Annie Wu. You can verify them out right here:
