For Oasis’ Liam Gallagher and John Squire of the Stone Roses, collaboration has a sophisticated implication, and richly storied context. However, from the second the Manchester musicians first hit the stage collectively, the symbiosis felt easy and unattainable to miss, finally yielding their new, affecting joint album. “John lives a life in color, you know what I mean?” Gallagher recounts of lastly working alongside his musical hero, “whereas maybe some of us live it in black and white. I mean, I haven’t got a clue what the songs are about. But I actually don’t want to know. Because they just feel right to sing.”
