‘Madame Web‘ Had A Historically Bad Opening Weekend

Madame Web had a gap weekend that made the dangerous field workplace totals of latest Marvel releases look nice as compared.

In truth, a report in The Hollywood Reporter says the early phrase of mouth from the primary critics’ evaluations and followers to see the movie was so dangerous, that they quoted a “major theatrical chain insider” who mentioned that “On Wednesday night, you could actually watch advance purchase sales declining in real time as buyers were refunding their tickets … it really says something when you’d rather have Shazam! 2 numbers.”

(Shazam! Fury of the Gods grossed $36.6 million in its opening weekend.)

You have to return to the times of the unique Blade to discover a Marvel film that did this poorly in theaters. And that was 25 years in the past — with a film that price a fraction of what a Madame Web prices to provide.

THR’s report mentioned Sony had hoped that Madame Web, starring Dakota Johnson because the title character, would launch a complete new franchise for his or her Spider-Man universe, noting that “it set up a future in which the three [future superheroes, played by Isabela Merced, Celeste O’Connor and Sydney Sweeney] could have become a team of Spider-Women under the guiding eye of Johnson’s Cassie Webb. Now that’s not going to happen.”

Yeah, I ought to assume not.
