“Spoonful of Sugar” is heading to Shudder. Deadline experiences that the streaming service has acquired Mercedes Bryce Morgan’s sophomore function, a psychological horror story that’s set to premiere at Fantastic Fest tomorrow, September 24.
While its title brings “Mary Poppins” to thoughts, the childcare supplier at the middle of “Spoonful of Sugar” couldn’t be much less just like the magical nanny despatched from the clouds. Described as a “disturbed babysitter,” Millicent (Morgan Saylor) “experiences a sexual awakening while using LSD to alternatively treat a seemingly ‘sick’ child from a family with dark secrets of their own,” the supply teases.
Leah Saint Marie (“Price of Honor”) penned the script.
Craig Engler, Shudder’s General Manager, described “Spoonful of Sugar” as “incisive” and praised its “nightmarish visions of hallucinogenic beauty.”
The movie will premiere on Shudder in 2023.
Morgan made her function debut with “Fixation,” one other psychological horror pic that simply made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Best identified for “Homeland,” Saylor’s different credit embody “White Girl” and “Blow the Man Down.”
