A24 has launched one other trailer for the director Ari Aster’s intriguing new movie Beau Is Afraid, which Joaquin Phoenix as an anxiety-ridden man who embarks on an insane journey through which he confronts his fears. This film appears so good, and I’m wanting ahead to leaping into this nightmare-fueled journey.
The film appears prefer it’s going to be a fever dream, which is sensible coming from the filmmaker that beforehand introduced us Hereditary and Midsommar! The synopsis reads: “A paranoid man embarks on an epic odyssey to get home to his mother in this bold and ingeniously depraved new film.”
Phoenix is joined within the movie by Nathan Lane, Amy Ryan, Stephen Mckinley Henderson, Hayley Squires, Denis Ménochet, Kylie Rogers, Armen Nahapetian, Parker Posey, and Patti LuPone.
Aster beforehand described the movie as a “nightmare comedy,” and “a Jewish Lord of the Rings, but He [Joaquin Phoenix’s character] is just going to his mom’s house.” He went on to say, “I want to put you in the experience of being a loser,” and that “if you pumped a ten-year-old full of Zoloft and had him get your groceries… that’s like this movie.”
Beau Is Afraid might be launched in theaters on April 21, 2023.
