Lachlan Pendragon is not your common film student.
The 27-year-old Brisbane animator has joined the likes of trade heavyweights Baz Luhrmann and Cate Blanchett as one in every of the Aussies nominated for an Oscar this 12 months.
His 11-minute cease movement film, An Ostrich Told Me the World is Fake and I Think I Believe It, which Pendragon wrote, directed, animated and voice acted in, is nominated for Best Animated Short.

“You definitely don’t set out for something like this when you start making a student film. So yeah, [I’m] incredibly excited, it’s beyond what I could dream,” Pendragon stated on Today this morning.
An Ostrich Told Me the World is Fake and I Think I Believe It is about an workplace employee who slowly begins to grasp that the world round him is pretend.

While Pendragon says he is excited to presumably seize a selfie with Steven Spielberg, Guillermo del Toro and even Tom Cruise, Melinda simply needs an image together with her son on his massive day.
“Crazily for me, like I keep saying, make sure we get a shot together, Lachy, because we never get a photo together… just us, that would be cool,” she stated.
“[It’s] something we never do like, you know, that’s a bit crazy.”
