The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has posited that Nigeria has roughly 14.3 million exhausting drug customers.
Zonal Commander, Zone ‘F’ (Kaduna) of the NDLEA, Sule Momodu revealed this data throughout a dialogue in Kaduna State with pharmacists, navy, and paramilitary officers.
He famous that the rising variety of drug customers is a serious contributor to banditry and different crimes, linking drug utilization to the prevalence of abductions and kidnappings within the nation.
Momodu nonetheless emphasised the significance of addressing drug-related points in attaining Nigeria’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and broader developmental aims.
“There are 14.3 million drug users in Nigeria. the prevalence rate in Kaduna State alone is 10 per cent, ranking fourth in the North-Western states of the country. The North West alone has about 3 million drug users,” the Commander famous.
He recounted that when he was the NDLEA Commander in Katsina, the State Governor suggested him that when bandits used tramadol, nothing might cease them from finishing up their deadly operations.
