I’m a giant fan of director Peter Jackson and Michael J. Fox’s 1996 horror-comedy The Frighteners, and this is a film that hasn’t made its option to a serious streaming service till now. This was the film that received me all for Jackson’s work and led me to find Dead Alive, Bad Taste, Meet The Feebles, and Heavenly Creatures.
The Frighteners was Jackson’s first massive Hollywood film and after that, he made The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I severely want that Jackson would make extra films! He doesn’t really want to, however he’s such a proficient director and makes such enjoyable movies that it’s a disgrace he doesn’t direct extra as of late.
Anyway, it’s nice to see that The Frighteners is lastly going to be out there to stream! The movie is coming to Peacock simply in time for the Halloween season!
The Frighteners follows the story of Frank Bannister, a person who, after a tragic accident, develops the power to see and talk with ghosts. He makes use of this means to rip-off folks by having his ghostly mates hang-out their houses, just for Frank to then “exorcise” them for a payment. However, when a malevolent spirit begins killing folks, leaving numbers on their foreheads that depend down with every dying, Frank realizes he wants to make use of his distinctive ability set to cease this lethal ghost. As he delves deeper into the thriller, he discovers the spirit’s connection to a sequence of deaths from years prior and should confront his personal previous to save lots of the city.
It was reported at one level a number of years in the past {that a} sequence adaptation of The Frighteners was in growth, however there’s been no replace on that since, so I’m fairly certain that’s not occurring anymore.
