Anita Pointer, one of many founders of the long-lasting group bearing her identify, has died.
Anita’s rep tells TMZ … her dying was the results of a “somewhat lengthy and heroic battle with cancer.” We’re informed she died peacefully at dwelling Saturday, surrounded by her household.
The Pointer Sisters fashioned within the late ’60s after Anita give up her job as a secretary and fashioned the soon-to-be-famous group together with her sisters Bonnie, June and Ruth.
They grew to become one of the standard teams within the ’70s, with iconic hit after hit.
To identify just a few … “I’m So Excited,” “Jump,” “Slow Hand,” “Fire,” “He’s So Shy,” and “Neutron Dance.” If you have not heard all these songs, you must take a pay attention, as a result of they’re superior.
The group received Grammys and lots of different awards, and so they had been the primary African American group to carry out at the Grand Ole Opry.
Anita’s sister and group member Ruth, together with brothers Aaron and Fritz, stated, “While we are deeply saddened by the loss of Anita, we are comforted in knowing she is now with her daughter, Jada and her sisters June & Bonnie and at peace.”
They went on … “She was the one that kept all of us close and together for so long. Her love of our family will live on in each of us. Please respect our privacy during this period of grief and loss. Heaven is a more loving beautiful place with Anita there.”
Anita was 74. RIP
