Speaking with EW, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew creator Christopher Ford defined the motive why the upcoming Star Wars sequence completely matches into The Mandalorian timeline. Ford revealed that setting the sequence throughout New Republic period allowed them to create a coming-of-age age story through which the child characters can have the ability to freely discover the galaxy with out the restrictions of the Empire.
“For us it was a great era because as much as the New Republic are trying to bring things back [to peace], it’s kind of a lawless wild time, so there’s a lot of danger,” Ford mentioned. “If we had set it earlier the kids might’ve just met the Empire and got shut down. This is more of the galaxy to get lost in.”
What to Expect in Skeleton Crew?
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is created and government produced by Jon Watts and scribe Christopher Ford, who beforehand labored collectively on Spider-Man: Homecoming.
