SLANDER, Alison Wonderland, and Said The Sky could not let 2022 shut with out having the final phrase.
The trifecta of present-stopping artists arguably saved their greatest for final with their model new collaboration, “Picture.” And it is the blow-the-doors-off sort of monitor we may have solely dreamt of.
Each tastemakers in their very own proper, the trio meet in the center of their stylistic crossroads, yielding a densely melodic anthem with a robust future bass aptitude. Perhaps much less shocking is the notion that “Picture” performs straight into their strengths, particularly in the rigorous constructing and diffusion of pressure. From dainty chords and distant, celestial soundscapes to voluminous synths dripping in reverb, “Picture” rides the wave of melancholic lows to untouchable highs.
Pulling all of it collectively are Wonderland’s characteristically heartstring-tugging lyricism, falsettos and hovering vocal melodies. Frozen in a state of cathartic reflection, “Picture” brings out a few of the most memorable songwriting from the formidable trio of artists. For Wonderland particularly, the messaging looks like a logical religious successor to her Loner period, whereby existential questions of what the future holds stay open-ended.
