Sony Pictures Classics has acquired all rights worldwide to Nathan Silver’s Between The Temples starring Jason Schwartzman and Carol Kane, following its buzzy world premiere at Sundance and forward of its upcoming worldwide debut on the Berlinale.
Billed by SPC as a comedy “exploring the complexities of belief, connection, and what it means to be a real mensch”, Between The Temples co-stars Schwartzman as is a forty-something cantor who’s dropping his voice and presumably his religion following the loss of life of his spouse.
As he struggles to fulfill the expectations of his rabbi, congregation, and never one however two Jewish moms – performed by Dolly de Leon (Triangle Of Sadness) and Caroline Aaron (The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel) – his life is turned the wrong way up when his grade faculty music instructor (Kane) re-enters his life as an grownup bat mitzvah pupil.

The movie is produced by Tim Headington, Theresa Steele Page, and Nate Kamiya on behalf of Ley Line Entertainment; Adam Kersh of Fusion Entertainment; and Taylor Hess.

Sony Pictures Classics praised the movie’s “distinctive and unique characters”.

The deal was negotiated between SPC, Anonymous Content, and CAA Media Finance, with Stutz Law dealing with authorized on behalf of the filmmakers.
