In an announcement that appeared to come out of nowhere, the official BBC Twitter account introduced that former Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat would return to write an episode for the upcoming collection. This marks the primary time Moffat has written for the collection since his exit in 2017.

Steven Moffat’s return is likely to be controversial to Doctor Who followers
The return is probably going to be controversial for Doctor Who followers. While he wrote a number of well-regarded episodes when the collection returned in 2005 (“The Girl in the Fire Place” and “Blink” amongst them), his tenure as showrunner divided followers.
