Universal has made its first massive deal of the 12 months with the acquisition of the 50-page thriller quick story Long Lost, from author Colin Bannon, who may also write the script. The movie might be produced by Steven Spielberg and Amblin Partners, Simon Kinberg and Audrey Chon for Genre Pictures and Scott Glassgold and his Ground Control Entertainment.
Bannon has landed scripts on the Black List a report seven instances, and he has offered Ultra to Tri-Star Pictures and First Ascent to Netflix. Bannon’s psychological thriller Holdout is readying at Netflix with Elisabeth Moss connected to star and direct.
Deadline studies that “In the vein of What Lies Beneath and Rosemary’s Baby, Long Lost tells the story of a recently married woman whose life is upended when her husband’s long-lost wife shockingly returns after she was believed to be dead, sparking fears that she’s hatching a sinister plan to reclaim what was once hers.”
This feels like a stable premise, and the makings of an exhilarating film. Stay tuned for extra updates because the venture develops.
